This is a blend for children aged 2 and over, so the dilution will be 0.25% of essential oils and the rest will be carrier oil. This is very gentle dilution as it will be used on smaller children and as such we do not need to put too much essential oils.
We will make 100 ml, as it will be easier to calculate and make it.
Ingredients:
The oils we will use are:
2 drops of Lavender*
1 drop of Roman Chamomile*
1 drop of Frankincense*
1 drop of Cedarwood*
100 ml of carrier oil (I recommend Sweet almond oil* or fractionated coconut oil)
What all of these essential oils have in common is that they are calming to the nervous system.
The Lavender is good for hyperactivity, short temperateness and mood swings.
The Roman Chamomile is soothing and helps the restless mind.
Frankincense helps with insecurity and helps to bring back stability.
Cedarwood helps in cases of stress and scattered thoughts.
In order to make these recipe you will also need a 100 ml glass bottle with a dropper*. Once mixed, you can split the oil into roller bottles* for easier application.
Method:
Start by pouring the carrier oil into the bottle. Then add the drops of essential oils. Please, please do not put more drops of essential oils than the recommended or the dilution may not be safe to use. Close the cap and shake well.
Once mixed you can use from the bottle or you can split it into smaller bottles. For going out, roller bottles are perfect.
This will keep up for up to 6 months, if kept in a dark and cold place (away from children). You can also split it into two 50 ml bottles and use one for yourself, for stress release. Just add double the drops in the already made oil, which you will use for yourself. You can apply it on your wrists and in the back of the neck. Make sure you do not mix up the bottles!
How to use:
If you sense that your child is becoming restless or is going into tantrum mode, pour a few drops on your hands and try to massage gently on the back of their neck and further down into the back. Be careful, it doesn't go into their eyes at any point. This may also serve as a distraction.
If at home, you can try to apply it on the soles of their feet.
You can also apply it before going out, if you suspect that this will be needed.
P.S. If a product (home-made or bought) containing essential oils, gets into the eyes, the best way to remove it is by washing it out with liquid carrier oils, such as fractionated coconut oil. Do not use water, as they do not mix with it anyway and will not be able to dilute it and remove it. If in doubt, seek medical attention.
I wish you health and radiance!
